A 1950 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Gilda, the classic 1946 Charles Vidor Buenos Aires Argentina romantic love triangle bad girl gambling casino crime film noir ("'Johnny, let me go, please let me go. I can't stand it any more...'"; "Now they all know what I am..."; "'I was true to one man once ...and look what happened!'"; "'I didn't think I'd be true to a man again as long as I lived...'"; "'I warned you to let me alone. And I mean it!'"; "There never was a women like Gilda!") starring Rita Hayworth (in the title role "as Gilda"), Glenn Ford, George Macready, Joseph Calleia, Steven Geray, Joe Sawyer, Ludwig Donath, Robert Scott, and Gerald Mohr. Note that the sheath dress that Rita Hayworth wears in the movie (designed by Jean Louis) certainly contributed greatly to the popularity of this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the poster says "A COLUMBIA REPRINT" in the lower right corner. This was a terminology used by Columbia Pictures at this time for some re-releases, and it has caused some collectors to be confused! This poster is the original poster from the 1950 re-release of this movie, and is NOT a "reprint"! Also note that this re-release poster appears to have been printed from the same plates as the original, but with different coloring. Often, two color re-releases are disappointing, but many find this orange and black design very striking, given the iconic sexy smoking image of Rita against a black background. And this poster (which was made only four years after the original release) is certainly an attractive alternative to the gazillion dollar original 1946 release poster with the same image! Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had the poster had creases, separation, some tiny areas of surface paper loss, and some tiny thin strips of paper loss on some parts of the foldlines. There were a few tears and creases around the edges of the poster. Other than the above, the poster was in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
