An Original 1956 (from the first release of this movie in the U.K.) Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 11" x 17 1/4" [28 x 44 cm]; 10 pages). Also included are 2 ad supplements that have one page each, and the center pages of the pressbook is a liftbill from the movie (see below). It's not true!!"; "Britain's most delightful combination since gin and tonic!"; "The rollicking tale of a 'perfect' couple who made a public business of their private lives!"; "Are they in love - - or are they!!") starring Peter Finch (in the title role as Simon), Kay Kendall (in the title role as Laura), Muriel Pavlow, Hubert Gregg, Maurice Denham, and Ian Carmichael NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" item for this English movie! Also note that some English pressbooks from this time would have the liftbill poster (17 1/4" x 22 1/4") stapled into the centerfold (which was done in this case; see our image), or sometimes left loose in the center of the pressbook). Often, dealers remove these from the pressbook and sell them separately as liftbills, because they often sell for more by themselves than they do when they are still part of the pressbook. Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
