An Original Vintage Promotional Mini Safe Movie Piggy Bank (measures 4" x 5" x 5 1/4"; contains 8 movie money $50 bills that each measure 2 3/4" x 6") (Learn More) Marnie, the 1964 Alfred Hitchcock romantic mystery kleptomaniac suspense thriller ("Only Alfred Hitchcock could have created so suspenseful a sex mystery!"; "Alfred Hitchcock's suspenseful sex mystery!"; "'You don't love me - I'm just some kind of wild animal you've trapped!'"; "'That's right, Marnie... I've caught you, and by heaven, I'm going to keep you!"; "Screenplay by Jay Presson Allen"; "From the Novel by Winston Graham"; about a man marrying a habitual thief in order to try and help her, but he also rapes her, and I'm not sure how that helps!) starring Tippi Hedren (in the title role as Marnie), Sean Connery, Diane Baker, Martin Gabel, and Louise Latham NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: We have auctioned a number of unusual special promotional items over the years, but this is FAR AND AWAY the coolest one ever (and we doubt it will ever be topped)! It is a toy safe/piggy bank (made of actual metal with a slot to insert coins in the top) that was made to promote Alfred Hitchcock's "Marnie", and it has a really cool wind-up mechanism in it that is self-winding (simply by closing the door of the "safe"), so that when the safe is opened, it starts vibrating and shaking like a burglar alarm went off! If that wasn't cool enough, the bank also has 8 faux "$50 bills" that measure 2 3/4" x 6" each, and the bills have Alfred Hitchcock's image where the president's image would be on the front, and "Marnie... she's a thief!" on the back! Best of all, there is a great image of Hitchcock with his hands up attached to the inside of the back of the safe, so that when the door is opened, you see him "inside" (see our images)! Note that this is a special promotional item sent to Nevart Apikian, who was a movie reviewer for the Syracuse Post Standard. Ms. Apikian was given special treatment by the studios, and it seems very likely that a very limited number of these promotional "safes" were made, and that they were only sent to very special people, because they surely cost a fortune to create! We have never auctioned another example of this before, and we likely never will auction it again. Condition: fine. The item was clearly barely used and stored well. The money was folded in half before being put in the bank, because that was necessary for it to fit. The mechanism of the bank works well, and it likely looks very similar to how it did when it was first made in 1964. Learn More about condition grades
