Date Sold 6/28/2020 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 5 paperback books from publisher Charles Boni, who published very early paperback books between 1929 and 1943, often with art deco-like covers through his "Bonibooks". These books were very controversial among booksellers, because like the "Book of the Month Club", which had launched in 1926, these books were sold on a "subscription" basis, and booksellers and publishers feared that they would greatly hurt the sales of books in traditional ways. Of course, books like these became standard throughout the business, as did paperback books! Note that the items in this lot are from 1930.
