Date Sold 6/17/2012Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Trade-Ad (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) Somewhere I'll Find You, the 1942 Wesley Ruggles World War II (WWII) IndoChina romantic love triangle melodrama ("Based upon a Cosmopolitan magazine story by Charles Hoffman"; "Screen Play by Marguerite Roberts"; "Watch your pulse! They're kissing again!"; about two brothers who are newspaper war correspondents, and they both fall for the same beautiful girl, and all three end up first in IndoChina, and then in Bataan, and one of the brothers is killed in action, which leaves the other brother free to pursue the girl) starring Clark Gable, Lana Turner ("Together Again - They're Dynamite!"), Robert Sterling, Patricia Dane, Reginald Owen, Lee Patrick, Charles Dingle, and Keye Luke. Note that Clark Gable's wife Carole Lombard was killed during the making of this movie, and it is said that his performance is clearly different in the scenes that were filmed after her death (he is his usual wise-cracking cheerful self in the earlier scenes, and moody and somber in the later scenes!). Also note that Lombard died in a plane crash, and she was reportedly on her way to confront Gable about an alleged affair with Lana Turner! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jacques Kapralik Important Added Info: Note that from the 1920s on, studios would create elaborate trade ads, often in full color, and often using the finest artists of the day. They would run these ads in their studio yearbooks (and sometimes those books are separated and the ads are sold individually), but they would also print those trade ads separately and mail them individually to theater owners, trying to get them to book that specific movie. The trade ad offered here was NOT removed from a yearbook or magazine, but was printed individually. It comes to us from the daughter of an MGM studio executive, who took home samples of these great ads (which explains why they are in such great condition, because they were never mailed to a theater). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
