An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) The Story of Louis Pasteur, the 1936 William Dieterle (this is one of five biographical movies Dieterle directed for Warner Bros.) historical France medical research biography ("He gambled his daughter's life... that our children might live."; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a fictionalized version of the life of Louis Pastuer, the French inventor of pasteurization and the first vaccine against rabies) starring Paul Muni (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Louis Pasteur), Josephine Hutchinson, Anita Louise, Donald Woods, Fritz Leiber, Henry O'Neill, Porter Hale, and Akim Tamiroff. Note that Warner Bros. was worried that this "talky" melodrama about the life of a scientist would be "box office poison", and they use an image of Paul Muni looking menacing for the paper advertising, perhaps trying to trick the public into thinking the movie was something it was not! Important Added Info: This Argentinean poster measures approximately 29" x 43" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had minor wear at the crossfolds. The top border had stains, smudges, pinholes, and small paper loss, and the other borders had minor defects.
