Date Sold 5/12/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) The Street of Sin, the 1928 Mauritz Stiller silent London England romantic melodrama ("Story by Josef von Sternberg and Benjamin Glaser"; Emil Jannings is a thug who falls for Salvation Army worker Fay Wray, but his sluttish girlfriend Olga Baclanova sabotages that relationship; the movie no longer exists, so it may be a masterpiece, but it is possible that director Stiller did not have control over the "final cut", so it may have had many studio imposed changes) starring Emil Jannings, Fay Wray (perhaps the sexiest Salvation Army lady ever seen in a movie!), Olga Baclanova, Ernest W. Johnson, and George Kotsonaros. Note that this was director Mauritz Stiller's final movie. He is best remembered for being the man who discovered Greta Garbo, and he brought her to Hollywood, but he clashed with the studios, and he was fired and he returned to Sweden, where he died soon after. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have only auctioned 8x10 stills for this title and one German program and NO other movie paper posters of any kind! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has light waves of rippling in the upper one third and some added rippled in the left and right borders. it has staining in the center of the top blank border. It has four pieces of tape on back of the borders where there were small tears. Other than the above the poster is in nice condition (especially considering its age), and it is not fragile. It certainly can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one might choose to have slight restoration performed (to remove the rippling, which could be done without backing the poster). Either way, the new owner will have an incredibly rare poster to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
