An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 37" [69 x 94 cm]) (Learn More) Las Islas Marias (literally translates to "The Maria Islands"), the 1951 (released in the U.S. in 1955) Emilio Fernandez Mexican romantic crime melodrama (about a man accused of his sister's crime, and falls in love in the penal colony on an island) starring Pedro Infante, Rosaura Revueltas, Rocio Sagaon, Esther Luquin, and Jaime Fernandez NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Juanino Renau Berenguer Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Mexican movie! Condition: good. The poster has tears and pinholes around the edges and some paper loss in portions of the folds (notably at upper left in the art of Infante's neck- see our image). This Mexican poster is somewhat fragile. Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
