An Original Vintage Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) the 1948 double-bill release ("Big Star Clash in this Big 2 for 1 Action Smash!") of Angels with Dirty Faces, the classic 1938 Michael Curtiz (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) crime thriller (in this movie, quintessential tough guy Cagney is a hero to the Dead End Kids, and at the end his childhood pal, now a priest, asks him to be a coward to help keep those kids from following in his footsteps; "A story... mighty with the clash of men! A picture... unforgettable in its greatness!"; "Sensational in it's dramatic impact!"; "From a Story by Rowland Brown") starring James Cagney (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Rocky Sullivan), Pat O'Brien (as Father Jerry Connolly), Humphrey Bogart (as James Frazier), The Dead End Kids (Leo Gorcey [as Bim], Billy Halop [as Soapy], Huntz Hall [as Crab], Bobby Jordan, Gabriel Dell, Bernard Punsly), Ann Sheridan (as Laury Ferguson), George Bancroft, and Frankie Burke (as the young Rocky; he was an unknown 17 year-old newsboy when he was discovered to play the young James Cagney in this movie) AND They Drive By Night (released in England as "The Road to Frisco"), the 1940 Raoul Walsh romantic action melodrama ("No picture in 1940 will have bigger thrills!"; "From a Novel by A.I. Bezzerides"; about truckers and their love lives; it stole part of its plot from "Bordertown"!) starring George Raft, Ann Sheridan, Ida Lupino, Humphrey Bogart, Alan Hale Sr., Gale Page, Roscoe Karns, John Litel, Charles Halton, and Charles C. Wilson. Note that movies rarely have top stars in all four lead roles (other than MGM movies of the 1930s and early 1940s, because they had so many such stars that they could afford to do this), but this movie is a rare exception. Actually, Humphrey Bogart and Ida Lupino were not top stars when they made this movie, but the very next movie they made was "High Sierra", which did help elevate both of them to greater stardom! Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle. Learn More about condition grades
