Hornung and Eugene W. Presbrey") starring Ronald Colman (in the title role "as 'Raffles' Daring Gentleman Genius of Crime"), Kay Francis, Bramwell Fletcher, Frances Dade, David Torrence, and John Rogers. Note that Raffles was a master criminal and jewel thief in a series of 26 short stories and one novel written between 1898 and 1909. The first movie adaptation was in 1905, and it was followed by others in 1917 (with John Barrymore in the lead role), in 1925, and the first sound version was in 1930 with Ronald Colman, and finally, in 1939 with David Niven. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Condition: good. There are tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss in the top border, with a few in the bottom right corner. There is surface paper loss and creases in the upper left of the image background, as well as a 1/2" tear in the middle of the right border. Learn More about condition grades
