An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 7 3/4" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Farley Granger was an actor from the 1940s to the 2000s. He was signed by Samuel Goldwyn in 1943 when he was 18, and he had two significant roles, but then joined the army. After getting out of the army, he made They Live By Night for Nicholas Ray, and he had great success with Rope and Strangers on a Train, both for Alfred Hitchcock. In 1954, he starred in Senso in Italy for Visconti. He moved to New York, where he spent the next 13 years on TV and on Broadway. He then returned to Italy and made a series of films there. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 85.
Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Farley Granger! Our consignor is a longtime dealer who acquired this signed item among many other purchases in his inventory, and he does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic.

Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 3/4" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Finally, note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.

Condition: good to very good. The still was slightly trimmed on the left and right.
