An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 47" x 63" [119 x 160 cm]) (Learn More)

Le Rideau Rouge (released in English-speaking countries as "Crimson Curtain"), the 1952 Andre Barsacq French romantic love triangle murder theater stage play melodrama (about actors performing Shakespeare's Macbeth on stage, and just before the play opens, the lead is murdered by his wife, who is having an affair with another actor, and the play goes on with the understudy taking his place, and the events playing out in real life are mirrored by the events seen in the play!) starring Michel Simon, Pierre Brasseur, Monelle Valentin, Jean Brochard, Olivier Hussenot, Andre Versini, and Noel Roquevert. Note that this movie is little known except by major film buffs, but those who have seen it say that it is exceptionally clever and well acted!
Artist: Guy Gerard Noel
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a Belgian poster from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this French one-panel, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of some folds, with some smudges and scuffs in the background and the solid colored areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
