An Original Vintage Theatrical Advertising Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Marguerite Clark was a leading actress from the 1910s to the 1920s. She started in 1914 when she was 31, but she was very small and child-like, and she had no trouble passing for a teenager! She was extremely popular in the late 1910s, but she hated acting, and she planned to retire "at the top". In 1921, she was voted the favorite female actress by the Quigley poll, and she promptly retired! Some of her movies include: Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch, Snow White, and Come Out of the Kitchen. Clark passed away in 1940 at the age of 57. Important Added Info: This was an ad that was shown along with coming attraction glass slides between movies at a 1920s movie theater. In this case, an ad for Miss Clark is combined with an ad for a local store that sold oil stoves and ovens (see our image)! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good.
