An Original Vintage Stage Play Souvenir Program Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 18 pages) (Learn More) Peter Pan, the 1951 stage play production (based on the character created by J. M. Barrie) starring Lawrence Tibbett (as Captain Hook), Veronica Lake (in the title role as Peter Pan), Peggy O'Hara (as Wendy), Ann Blackburn, and Bobby Barry. Note that Lake replaced Jean Arthur who portrayed Peter Pan in the Broadway version of this production. Note that Lawrence Tibbett was a singer during the 1930s (but best remembered from the Metropolitan Opera), who appeared in several movies as, naturally, an opera singer. He was the first to play the leading role in many famous operas, including the role of Brutus Jones, in The Emperor Jones (which he played in blackface)! Darryl F. Zanuck signed him to a multi-picture contract, sure he would be a major star, but alas, he was not, and he only appeared in a few movies. Later, he had throat problems, which led to a drinking problem (or perhaps vice versa), and his later years were unhappy. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
