An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Lilyan Tashman was an actress from the 1920s and 1930s. She was born in New York City in 1896 to Jewish parents of Polish and German extraction, and she made her film debut in 1921, and it seemed that would be her only movie, but in 1924, she appeared in six movies, and started getting leading roles. She married actor Edmund Lowe the following year, but it seems likely she was bi-sexual, and she was rumored to have lesbian affairs with famous rumored bi-sexual actresses including Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, and Kay Francis, but of course, that could be legend. She was well known for her wonderful wardrobe, and she was nicknamed "The Best Dressed Woman On The Screen". She went in the hospital in 1934 for cancer surgery, but it was not successful, and she died, and she was just 37. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Lilyan Tashman! Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a Bonham's TCM Auction in 2018. It was one of a group of signed photos that were owned by Thelma Williston, who was from New Jersey and born in 1899, and likely acquired this photo and the others in the 1920s and 1930s. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good.
