This means the poster was backed onto a board backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had creases and a few tiny tears along both foldlines. There were some tears, pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster. The masters at Studio C restoration studio did a really fantastic job of paperbacking the poster. It looks great, you can barely see any signs of restoration (even from inches away, and yet the poster does not have much paint anywhere on it!). Learn More about condition grades
