An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) David Niven was an English actor from the 1930s to the 1980s. Some of his movies include: Separate Tables (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Sir Charles Lytton in The Pink Panther, Wuthering Heights, A Matter of Life and Death, Casino Royale (as Sir James Bond), and The Guns of Navarone. He passed away in 1983 at the age of 73 from Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS). Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by David Niven! Also note that this still measures 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm]. Finally, note that this still appears in every way to be original U.S. release EXCEPT that there is one very tiny line of French type in the lower right. It reads, "IMPRIME AUX ETATS-UNIS D'AMERIQUE". A collector has told us that he believes this means the still was printed for use in areas that included French-speaking parts of Canada, but that it WAS printed in the U.S., and that makes complete sense to us (and we have seen this on stills from the 1940s through the early 2000s, so it has certainly been done for an extremely long time)! So it is an original still from , but it was printed partially for use in French-speaking Canada. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. The consignor of this autographed item (and a large number of other signed items in this auction) is a longtime autograph collector who does not have a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) for this item, but he feels certain it is genuine. Many of the items he has consigned were purchased from an autograph store that was going out of business when the owner retired, and many of the items he has consigned to this set of auctions come from this purchase.
