An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman, the 1958 Nathan Juran (billed as "Nathan Hertz") science fiction (sci-fi) giant female monster horror thriller starring Allison Hayes (in the title role as the 50 foot woman), William Hudson, Yvette Vickers, Roy Gordon, George Douglas, and Otto Waldis. Note that the posters for this movie have wonderful Reynold Brown artwork of a giant scantily clad woman standing over a highway, and it is rightly regarded as one of the finest poster images of the 1950s. One wishes one could say the same about the movie itself, but alas, that is not true! But the poster for this movie is surely one of the most memorable ever created! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Reynold Brown Important Added Info: Note that this is one of the most popular 1950s horror/sci-fi images ever (because of its wonderful wacky Reynold Brown art), and surely many existing examples were displayed on fans' walls from 1958 through the 1970s, when the value of the poster was not that high. Many of those were likely ripped off the walls and discarded when the owners moved, and the ones that weren't surely had varying degrees of fading, tears, tape stains, etc. So we wonder how many of the surviving ones are in generally nice condition, especially without fading. Collectors have put a great premium on finding this poster in nice condition, and in 2013 we auctioned an unrestored excellent condition example for $19,000! We know that THIS example only had some minor creases and rippling scattered throughout, but did not have any fading, tears, pinholes, or tape stains, because we saw the poster prior to backing (which was done solely to remove the minor creases and rippling). Also, this poster has a most interesting "provenance". It was originally owned by Frederick Clarke, who was a science fiction author who published "Cinefantastique" magazine, and who had a great poster collection. Decades ago, he sold it to one of the earliest major poster collectors, Don G. Smith, who was an author and historian of movies. Many years ago, Mr. Smith sold this poster to our consignor, who has had it in his collection until now, when he has consigned it to us. So this poster has passed through the hands of legendary collectors! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the middle crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It had very minor fold and border wear. The colors were not at all faded, which is a big plus! Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
