eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result f150 SHOW BOAT glass slide '36 Irene Dunne, James Whale Date Sold 9/20/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Edna Ferber's Show Boat, the 1936 James Whale epic romantic interracial romance riverboat musical ("Version of 1936"; "The grandest show you'll ever know!"; "Hear Glorious New Music and Songs by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein") starring Irene Dunne, Allan Jones, Charles Winninger, Paul Robeson, Helen Morgan, Helen Westley, Queenie Smith, Sammy White, Donald Cook, Hattie McDaniel, Sunnie O'Dea, "and a Cast of Thousands". Note that Universal had previously made a version of this classic stage play in 1929 (starring Lauira LaPlante, Joseph Schildkraut, and Jules Bledsoe), and it was remade again in 1951 (starring Howard Keel, Ava Gardner, and William Warfield)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the front pane of glass has a long slightly semi-circular crack running through the bottom orange border area. It does not enter the image at all, and it is only the front pane that is cracked, not the back pane. Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: good. This glass slide has clear condition problems that causes it to be in less than "very good" condition. We do NOT describe those defects in words (UNLESS the defect is a crack in one or both panes of the glass, in which case we ALWAYS describe it elsewhere within the auction in words), and you can likely see some or all of them in the "large" and "super-sized" images we provide. If you are the sort who can accept a major defect, then you should bid on items in this condition grade, BUT PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THESE ITEMS UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THEIR VERY CLEAR DEFECTS!
