An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Foreign Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) The Three Musketeers, the 1973 (released in the U.S. in 1974) Richard Lester English/U.S. Paris France historical romantic swashbuckling action adventure thriller ("20th Century-Fox proud to present the 1974 all-star version of the best-selling adventure novel of all time..."; "It's the Three Musketeers!"; "'One for all and all for FUN'"; "Based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas") starring Oliver Reed ("as Athos"), Raquel Welch, Richard Chamberlain ("as Aramis"), Michael York ("as D'Artagnan"), Frank Finlay ("as Porthos"), Christopher Lee ("as Rochefort"), Geraldine Chaplin ("as Anne d'Artiche"), Jean Pierre Cassel (as Louis XIII), Spike Milligan, Roy Kinnear, Sybill Danning, Simon Ward, Faye Dunaway ("as Milady"), and Charlton Heston ("as Cardinal Richelieu"). Note that crafty producer Alexander Salkind signed his actors for ONE movie, but made it EXTREMELY long, and then had it edited into TWO movies, and released them as "The Three Musketeers" and "The Four Musketeers", but paid his actors for only ONE movie! The actors sued him, and they received SOME extra money, but not as much as they would have had they been paid for two movies! Finally, note that when they first decided to divide the movie into two parts, they apparently originally planned on making each of them "The Three Musketeers", but with the first part being named "The Three Musketeers: The Queen's Diamonds", and the first release presskit shows that. However, they likely knew that would cause the actors to sue, so they dropped the "The Queen's Diamonds" and simply released it as "The Three Musketeers", and changed the second part to "The Four Musketeers".
