An Original Vintage Theatrical Color-Glos 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Great Garrick, the 1937 James Whale France/England theater stage acting romantic comedy farce ("You haven't slept a wink since you saw 'THE GREAT GARRICK'!"; "A play for the screen by Ernst Vajda"; "Personally supervised by Mervyn Leroy"; a very cleverly constructed comedy about the legendary English Shakespearean actor, David Garrick, who announces he is going to France to star in Don Juan, and he slights France's acting ability, so when he arrives, the French actors want to "teach him a lesson" by humiliating him, but he sees what they are doing and plays along, with great comic results) starring Brian Aherne (in the title role as David Garrick), Olivia De Havilland, Edward Everett Horton, Melville Cooper, Lionel Atwill, Luis Alberni, Lana Turner (in her second credited role; she is seventh billed, and likely not pictured on any advertising, although she is billed on the posters!), and Marie Wilson. Note that this movie by horror legend James Whale (late in his career) is mostly forgotten today, but everyone who has seen it agrees that it is wonderful and deserves to be seen! Important Added Info: Note that this still is from a special set of "color glos" stills, which means it was printed on a photo type of paper and have a glossier front, with more vivid colors.
