He acted primarily on the stage but had occasional film roles over many decades, and is widely considered one of the finest Shakespearean actors ever! Some of his movies include: Arthur (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Romeo & Juliet (1954), Becket (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and Gandhi. He passed away in 2000 at the age of 96. Important Added Info: Note that this REPRODUCTION still has been personally autographed (signed) by John Gielgud! Note that our consignor was the owner of a video store for over 20 years, and he attended many trade shows and obtained autographs in person. He also was a memorabilia dealer/collector for many years who purchased collections and estates, and he would buy autographed items in those ways.
