An Original Vintage Movie Animation Drawing (measures 9 1/2" x 12" [24 x 30 cm]) in a mat that measures 16" x 18 1/2" (Learn More)

Mickey Mouse is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1928 by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks. He first appeared in the cartoon short Steamboat Willie which was one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound and the first cartoon to feature a fully post-produced soundtrack. He was massively merchandised in the 1930s, and was a major part of the success of the Walt Disney studio. After his starring role in Fantasia (in the Sorcerer's Apprentice sequence), his popularity waned somewhat, but he remained the mascot of the studio, and has always been central to the studio (for example, Disney had a "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show where the children wore mouse ears).
Important Added Info: Note that this is an original animation drawing from a very early Mickey Mouse cartoon. Our consignor believes that it is probably from 1929, but he does not know exactly what cartoon it is from. It is on 9 1/2" x 12" paper and has two punch holes in the bottom, and the number "136" at lower right. Hopefully this information will allow someone to identify exactly which cartoon it is from. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that the megaphone Mickey is holding is partially colored in with red, green, and yellow! Our consignor had it displayed with a mat, and we can either send the drawing by itself, or together with the mat, but if we send it with the mat, the package will need to be quite a bit larger, so we will leave that up to the winning bidder.

Condition: very good to fine. The drawing has slight darkening around the edges and a few minor creases.
