An Original Vintage Window Card Stage Play Poster (WC; measures 14" x 21 1/4" [36 x 54 cm]) (Learn More)

Black Hills Passion Play, the 1939 - 2008 off-Broadway stage play production (about the crucifixion of Christ) founded by Josef Meier which was performed annually for almost 70 years at the Spearfish Amphitheatre in South Dakota. There have been many, many similar productions of the Passion Play, most notably in Oberammergau, Germany, where it started in the 19th century, but this is one of the most successful and log-running ones in the U.S.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we know that this play was first performed in this theater in South Dakota in 1939. It continued all the way until 2008. This window card is undated but it seems quite likely that it is from the 1940s. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 21 1/4" [36 x 54 cm].

Condition: very good. The card has no top or bottom blank borders and measures 21 1/4" high, so it is possible that it was trimmed at the top and bottom, but it seems more likely it was simply made this size.
