An Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #1 (The Purple Death) Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this full-color chapter 1 title card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Note that this is from an amazing collection of serial title cards we were consigned from a man who started collecting them in the 1960s! There are 47 in all, in 47 separate auctions, and a number of them are extremely rare, and some are ones we have never auctioned before. This is a wonderful opportunity to purchase one or many title cards from serial movies, and there likely won't be such an opportunity again for many years! Condition: very good to fine. There are tiny pinholes in the top left corner and in the center of the top and bottom borders. There is a tiny "bump" in the upper left blank border. Otherwise, the card is in excellent condition.
