An Original Vintage Linenbacked Belgian Circus Poster (measures 15" x 21 1/4" [38 x 54 cm]) (Learn More)

Grand Cirque de France, the circa 1950s French circus poster advertising specifically the Philippe Gruss and 12 panthers act. If anyone knows more about this poster, please email us and we will post it here.

Condition: good. There is a tax stamp in the top right corner. The poster was folded twice horizontally and once 3" from the bottom. There are creases, scuffs, and fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and some smudges scattered through the poster. There are three pieces of paper glued to the bottom center of the poster which are remnants of a paper snipe and there are tape stains in three corners, and paper loss in the fourth corner. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was simply mounted onto a thin linen and no restoration was performed, and it has picked up some additional small tears in the borders since it was backed (but any restorer could properly re-back it, and it would require little paint restoration, except in the white background areas).
