A Paperbacked Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Gold Diggers of 1937, the 1936 Lloyd Bacon & Busby Berkeley New York City Broadway romantic theater stage show musical comedy ("We're back in the money with a show that's a honey!"; "Musical numbers created and directed by Busby Berkeley") starring Dick Powell, Joan Blondell, Victor Moore, Glenda Farrell, Lee Dixon, Osgood Perkins, and Rosalind Marquis. Note that Dick Powell & Joan Blondell were married the year this movie was made. Also note that Warner Bros. had a giant hit in 1933 with "Gold Diggers of 1933", and they made a sequel to it two years later called, naturally, "Gold Diggers of 1935", which was followed by this third movie. There were also a few other "Gold Diggers" movies made in the 1930s! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this title card in all our years of auctioning! Note that the art of the showgirl on this title card appears to be the work of Enoch Bolles, but it is not signed. If anyone knows who did this art, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this lobby card has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the lobby card was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original lobby card (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. Prior to paperbacking, the card was trimmed on all four sides. It extended into the dark border on the left and right by a tiny bit, and it affected the top border, including the top of the three heads at left. It affected 1/4" of the bottom blank border, with a tiny bit of the small text affected. The card also had some smudges and stains scattered throughout. Overall, the lobby card was in fair to good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
