An Original Vintage Tri-Folded Billboard Advertising Poster (measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) International Harvester was a United States manufacturer of agricultural machinery, construction equipment, trucks, automobiles, and household and commercial products, founded in 1902 by Cyrus Hall McCormick. While this company is certainly not known for kitchen appliances, they moved into this field right after World War II when there was a huge demand, and they made refrigerators and freezers from 1947 to 1955, when they sold that part of their company to Whirlpool. The company eventually sold its agricultural division, becoming Navistar in 1986. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This is an advertising billboard poster for International Harvester refrigerators. This poster features artwork of a happy housewife showing off her new refrigerator. This poster shows just how far the world has come since the 1950s. The idea of the poster is that mechanical devices that were "engineered" in the regular way were FAR too complicated for women to use, so they had "dumbed down" their refrigerator by making it "femineered", so that even a woman could use it! Note that this billboard poster was printed in 15 sections designed to overlap. Also note this poster was folded in a way that makes it resemble a tri-folded six-sheet (only much larger, of course, as there are more sections). But the length and width of the folded poster is just about the same as that of a folded six-sheet or three-sheet. This means that this poster needs to be sent in an oversized flat package, which will measure roughly 16" x 38", and approximately 2" high, and it will cost more to send than a regular sized package. Condition: fair. There is light water staining and scuffing scattered throughout the poster, and there are tears and areas of paper loss on parts of several folds and in the borders. Please look at our super-sized image to get a sense of the exact condition of this poster, and do not bid on it thinking it is in better condition than it is. Still, it is surely an incredibly rare poster, and perhaps the only surviving example. One would prefer to find a much better condition one, but that might not be an option!
