An Original Vintage Color 4x5 Studio Issued Transparency (measures 4" x 5" [10 x 13 cm]) (Learn More) Yvonne De Carlo (born Margaret Yvonne Middleton) was a Canadian actress from the 1940s to the 1990s. She was a romantic leading lady who starred in nearly one hundred movies in the 1940s and 1950s. You might be surprised to know that despite her great beauty (which was somewhat "exotic"), she was far from an overnight success! She had a number of uncredited roles starting in 1941, and made no impression on anybody! In 1943, she finally got a credited role in The Deerslayer (as a Native American Indian), and that still led to nothing. It was not for two more years before she was suddenly given the lead role in 1945's "Salome, Where She Danced", and that led to much better roles and then leading roles. Her exotic looks were not surprising, since her mother was of Italian-Scottish ancestry and her father was a half-Maori New Zealander! Oddly, she will forever be best remembered as Lily Munster in TV's "The Munsters"! Some of her other movies include: Salome Where She Danced, Song of Scheherazade, Slave Girl, The Ten Commandments (as Sephora), Brute Force, and This Gun for Hire. She passed away in 2007 at the age of 84. Important Added Info: Yvonne De Carlo taken during the production of THE MUNSTERS! Is Lily Munster off to a ski trip in Aspen? If so she was bound to turn heads. The makeup reveals she was probably posing in costume before or after this sitting. This transparency by TV photographer, Gabi Rona was the one in the camera at the time taken by him and could be printed or scanned huge due to the superb quality. An excellent piece for collectors who prefer one-of-a-kind collectibles. This transparency is being sold for personal use only! No rights given or implied! Note that this is a "studio-issued" transparency that was produced by the studio but is not the camera original. What is a transparency? They are produced by the studio and are very high quality and were created in quantity and sent to media outlets or other places that had need of the very highest quality image for reproduction purposes (in newspapers, magazines, or elsewhere). A clear border around a 4x5 transparency denotes duplication from a negative source, a black border denotes duplication from a positive source. This transparency is in a plastic sleeve (but we removed it and scanned it, so that bidders could see just how high quality it is). It will be sent to the winner of the auction in the plastic sleeve. The coloring of the transparency has changed over the years, and our consignor prepared a "color corrected" version (through PhotoShop), and we have an image of the transparency as it appears alongside the color corrected version, but of course, the auction is for a single transparency. Condition: good to very good. A sterling example of a properly archived transparency. Subtle flaws on edges from general use but overall in remarkable condition considering age and format. Transparency exhibits a magenta color shift. We have included a quickly retouched and color corrected Photoshop scan to show how good this can look when done properly!
