Date Sold 12/16/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man, the 1943 Roy William Neill Universal monster horror thriller (the fifth Universal Frankenstein movie) starring Ilona Massey (as Baroness Elsa Frankenstein), Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi (in the title role as the Frankenstein Monster), Lionel Atwill, Maria Ouspenskaya, Rex Evans, Dwight Frye, Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role as the Wolf Man; "Lon Chaney in his most terrifying role"; "Lon Chaney as The Wolfman"), Dennis Hoey, Jeff Corey, Doris Lloyd, Adia Kuznetzoff, Martha Vickers (billed as "Martha MacVicar" in her first movie), Gil Perkins (who doubled for Bela Lugosi in some action scenes), and Eddie Parker (who doubled for Lon Chaney Jr. in some action scenes). Note that in this movie, Bela Lugosi took over the role of the Frankenstein monster which had been played by Lon Chaney Jr. in the previous movie, because Lon Chaney Jr. reprised his role of the Wolf Man, which he had created in the 1941 Universal classic! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned three examples of this card (the last time was 8 years ago, and the time before that was 14 years ago!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.
UPDATED 12/10/2018: Note that advanced collectors tell us that Bela Lugosi is likely not pictured on this card. The collectors believe that it is likely either Gil Perkins or Eddie Parker as Frankenstein's monster. Both were stuntmen in the film and likely doubled for Lugosi as needed. Condition: good to very good. The card likely was once attached to a mat and it was removed, leaving many light stains on the back, and also some surface paper loss scattered in parts of the back of the card. It also had some small pieces of tape on the back of parts of the borders, where there were small tears, and there were also tiny pinholes around the edges and one in the ear of Frankenstein on the slab. Someone performed some restoration to the above defects but did not back the card and left other defects alone. The card displays well, but you can see some signs of the defects from the front, and of course, you can see many of the defects looking at the back of the card (see our images).
