French National Railroads (Societe Nationale Des Chemins De Fer Francais or S.N.C.F.), the French travel poster ("For traveling in France the railway is the right way"; "Visit France by train"; "Discover France by train") made by the S.N.C.F to encourage travel by the French National Railroad. Each poster features a wonderful image or art of one of the many locations that the railroad visits. The SNCF was founded in 1938 with the nationalization of France's main railway companies.

UPDATED 04/04/2011: Note that a knowledgeable travel poster collector pointed out that this poster is from 1945 and NOT 1947 as we initially listed. He goes on to suggest that the art is a celebration of the liberation of France from German occupation.

Condition: good. There are long tears near the center of the top and bottom border, and both were repaired with tape from the back. There are some other tears in the borders that were repaired with tape from the back, and some areas of paper loss. There is some scuffing scattered in the poster.
