An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Presskit (folder measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; contains 13 stills and 4 postcards that measures 6 1/2" x 9") (Learn More)

Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, the classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock New York City South Dakota romantic crime suspense thriller ("The Master of Suspense weaves his greatest tale... about a secret that nobody knew... a man who never existed... and a love affair that began in an upper berth - and ended in screaming death!"; "From the killer plane in the cornfield to the cliff-hanger on George Washington's nose, it's suspense in every direction!"; "The master of suspense spins his greatest tale"; "A train may be an old-fashioned way to travel, but an upper berth can be a lovely way to go - When It's Your Time To Go......"; "Breathless excitement that races from glittering Manhattan to the great stone faces of Mt. Rushmore!"; "Written by Ernest Lehman") starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau, Edward Platt, and Phillip Ober

Important Added Info: Note that this is surely one of the earliest presskits, and it says "preview program" on the front, so maybe that's what it was called at that time. It consists of a folder that has the classic Mt. Rushmore and cropduster image on the front, and inside is a close up image of Eva Marie Saint holding a gun to Cary Grant's neck, and to the right is the cast and credits. But there is also a flap with an image of Hitchcock and a section that says "ITINERARY", which has a message from Hitchcock, recommending a trip across the United States (see our image). In addition, the folder contains 13 8x10 stills from the movie, including a great candid of Hitchcock standing with the lead stars, and on the back of each still is printing about what is on the front, plus information about the movie (except for the candid image, which has no printing on the back). Even more unusual, are four postcards, which came to us with this "preview program", which were not originally part of it. We know that because each of the postcards are numbered on the front, and three of them measure 6 1/2" x 9", and one measures 5 1/2" x 9". We know they weren't with the "presskit" originally, because each was mailed to a man in Los Angeles, and each has his address on the reverse with a canceled stamp above it! So this must have been part of a promotion where they mailed each of these postcards over successive days, and then surely sent the preview program after the postcards were received, to build interest in the movie. We have never before auctioned any of these items, and they are surely incredibly rare! Also note that we have taken a picture of the cover of the presskit and all of its contents.

Condition: very good to fine. The items are in generally nice condition, with only slight wear (see our images).
