A 1970 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the 1960 Michael Curtiz adventure comedy (based on the famous Mark Twain novel; "A wonderful world of excitement!") starring Tony Randall, Patty McCormack, Neville Brand, Mickey Shaughnessy, Judy Canova, Buster Keaton, Andy Devine, Finlay Currie, Sterling Holloway, Archie Moore (former light-heavyweight boxing champion; billed as "Presenting Archie Moore as Jim"), Eddie Hodges (billed as "Also starring Eddie Hodges as Huckleberry Finn"), and John Carradine. Note that this movie was originally begun in 1952, when it would have starred William Warfield as Jim (he had just made "Show Boat"). The project was naturally a musical and included four new songs by Alan Jay Lerner, and it would have had Dean Stockwell as Huck and Danny Kaye and Gene Kelly as the con men! But the project was abandoned. It was resurrected in 1959, and at that point, the musical idea was dropped, and it was filmed as a comedy with the above cast. One wonders what the original musical version would have been like, especially with that very different cast. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a tear in the head of the man at center, with some tiny paper loss and darkening on parts of the folds. It had an NSS stamp on the back of the bottom left that bled through to the front in the blank area. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
