a lot of 21 unfolded 20 1/2" x 31 1/4" film festival posters from American Mavericks, the 1978 film festival ("Entermedia's first festival of independent films"; "Discover America's hidden cinema") to be held from January 17th to February 14th in New York, and featuring art a theater audience watching a man with a film camera in place of a head hanging from a cliff by Stanislaw Fernandes. Note that this festival was designed to bring attention to independent American films. Two categories of films were shown. The first category consists of either retrospective works or the works of established independent directors. In this group there will be a special program of early short films directed by George Lucas, Terrence Maltck, John Hancock and Martin Scorsese. The second category consists of recent independent films that have not been shown commercially, or which have had limited releases. The festival was shown at several Landmark Theaters. IMPORTANT! The lot contains 21 identical posters, so we have only pictured one, but the winner of this auction receives all 21 posters!
