You'll call her Magnificent!"; "From the novel by Olive Higgins Prouty"; about a trampy woman who gives up her child so she will have a better life with her rich father) starring Barbara Stanwyck (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Stella Dallas), John Boles, Anne Shirley (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Alan Hale Sr., Barbara O'Neil, Marjorie Main, and Edmund Elton NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Osvaldo Venturi Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Argentinean poster, which has wonderful different art of Barbara Stanwyck by Osvaldo Venturi! Note that an advanced collector of Argentinean posters tells us that this poster (and other Argentinean posters from Guaranteed Pictures) are not from 1943 (which is below the company name in the right corner), but are actually from the mid-to-late 1940s, and that they are all re-releases. The reason some people have dated them to 1943 comes from seeing it on the poster, but that is actually part of the company's street address! Guaranteed Pictures made a deal to re-release a number of classic 1930s movies in the mid 1940s, and they produced posters for those re-releases, each with great entirely new art by the wonderful Argentinean poster artist, Osvaldo Venturi. In the case of this poster, we know it to be from exactly 1945, because Venturi added the date after his signature. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had darkened, typical of Argentinean posters of this period. It had small paper loss at each crossfold and a few creases, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds, with paper loss at the left end of the top and bottom folds, in the blank border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
