An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked English One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Uncle Silas (released in the U.S. in 1951 as "The Inheritance"), the 1947 Charles Frank English toxic family relationship inheritance melodrama (about a teen girl whose father dies, and she becomes the ward of her creepy uncle, and she soon suspects that he, in league with her former creepy governess, and her even creepier cousin, are plotting to kill her so they can have her father's inheritance before she comes of age) starring Jean Simmons ("Jean Simmons The New Star as Caroline Niece and Ward of Uncle Silas"), Katina Paxinou, Derrick De Marney (in the title role as Uncle Silas), Derek Bond, Esmond Knight, Sophie Stewart, and Manning Whiley. Note that Jean Simmons had first been noticed as a teenager in a child role in "Great Expectations", and she also had a significant role in "Black Narcissus", which led to her starring role in this movie (where she was billed on some posters as "The New Star"). Also note that this movie was released in the U.S. in a cut version under the title of "The Inheritance", and it has never been re-released in its original version to U.S. audiences, and we hope that oversight will be corrected! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this English movie! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny bits of paper loss and a few tears in the vertical foldline, with a 6" tear running in a slight oval from the bottom crossfold to down 5" below that. There was a lesser amount of wear on the horizontal folds. There were just a few tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
