An Unfolded Spanish Special Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 27 1/2" [50 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Yes, Let's Talk?, the 2000s Spanish poster created to educate people about HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) which causes AIDS (Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome) and how to protect themselves from the disease. Note that the poster translates to "Let's talk? Preventing the spread of HIV depends upon each one of us. Get informed and share your knowledge of HIV." and is written in Bulgarian (Cyrillic). Note that when AIDS gripped the world in 1981, local authorities, healthcare providers and governments quickly created health posters as a way to inform people about the new disease. These public health campaigns continue to this day, and the posters show the different tactics, images (some quite provocative) and messages used by various countries and health agencies in their attempts to educate people about the AIDS/HIV threat. There is another poster with the same design written in the Russian language, and if anyone knows more about the series of posters and specifically why they were designed for an audience in Spain who spoke Russian and Bulgarian, please e-mail us and we will post it here!
