Details About These Items

Why are we auctioning large French & Italian, window cards & much more together?
All of these posters are too large for our "standard" boxes and flat packages, so we auction all these sizes together, because they all fit in a larger boxes or flat packages (but of course, they can also be combined with standard folded posters like one-sheets, and also can be combined with lobby cards or stills).

HERE IS A CHART OF THE ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION:

About the shipping of our current items
All of the posters we are currently auctioning are either "oversized" (or very "oversized"), and the word "oversized" has two different meanings! One is that most of the posters themselves are larger than one-sheets (ranging from 39" x 55" to 55" x 78" and even larger). The other is that some of the posters are over 11" x 14" as is or when fully folded, so they are "oversized" because they don't fit in a standard flat package. This means that all of these items can't be sent in our regular standard-sized flat mailers (and NONE of them can be rolled in a tube, because if they could, we would auction them with rolled posters). This means the packages are larger than our standard flat packages (and if you get a lots of items, they require very large boxes) and cost quite a bit more to send. And if you live outside the U.S., the rates will surely be much higher than our standard sized packages, depending on how many items you purchase, and what size they are, so bear this added expense in mind before bidding.

About "oversized" posters
In this set of auctions, we are auctioning a very large number of "somewhat oversized" or "very oversized" posters, including some very scarce titles, some of which may never have been at auction before. Most of the posters we are selling were actually used in a theater (all were printed intended for theater-use, but some never made it out of the poster exchange that distributed them, and on the few that appear to have been never used, we clearly note that in the item's condition), and they have defects typical with those acquired by a poster that has been attached to a wall and then taken down again. Some of the posters were used in theaters in other parts of the world, and some of those have "censor stamps" on them (but, unlike one-sheets with censor stamps, most oversized posters with censor stamps are stamped in unobtrusive places, often in the blank background areas; in addition, sometimes the censor stamps are relatively very small on these larger posters and are much less noticeable than they would be on one-sheets). MOST COLLECTORS OF THESE POSTERS ARE ACCEPTING OF THE DEFECTS THAT THEATER-USED LARGER POSTERS ACQUIRE, BUT IF YOU ARE NOT, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BID ON THESE POSTERS (unless they are one of the ones we marked as having been never used). Most collectors of oversized posters have them linenbacked and restored prior to displaying them, and they know that most of the defects theater-used posters acquire can be fairly easily restored during the linenbacking process. If you are like most collectors, and can accept the defects that most of these posters have (which WERE acquired during actual theater use!) then we think you will be very happy to have this rare opportunity to select from such a huge number of rarely seen larger U.S. posters!

About our digital images of posters printed in 2 or more pieces, and of larger posters
Some of the items we are offering in this set of auctions are printed in 2 or more pieces (because they were made before printers had the ability to print such large posters in one piece, so they were normally printed in two or four pieces; in the late 1970s, printers began printing three-sheets and some other larger posters in a single piece, and six-sheets and some other very large posters in two pieces). To give you the best possible idea of what the poster will look like when the pieces are combined, as intended, we photograph each piece separately and then digitally "join" the images to show you what the entire poster looks like (when there are multiple pieces, they are printed with extra blank borders designed to overlap, so that the pieces can be combined to have a perfect "fit"). BUT THE DOWNSIDE TO PHOTOGRAPHING THE INDIVIDUAL SECTIONS BY THEMSELVES IS THAT THE LIGHTING IS NOT EXACTLY THE SAME WHEN WE PHOTOGRAPH EACH PIECE SEPARATELY. Often this leads to one part of the poster appearing darker (or lighter) than the rest of the poster. THIS IS DUE SOLELY TO THE LIGHTING AND DOES NOT MEAN ONE PIECE IS "DARKER" THAN ANOTHER! If one of our posters ACTUALLY has significantly different coloring from one piece to another, we SURELY note that in words. This same "lighter" and "darker" issue can occur in single piece posters, if they are very large (like three-sheets that are printed in a single piece), because the poster is so large that the lighting may vary from one area of the poster to another. But know that any color difference from one section of a poster to another, or from one portion of the poster to another, is purely due to photography and is NOT on the actual poster, and when you see the poster in person, you will see that this is correct!

About the condition

Note that we give a detailed overall condition grade to every item we sell ("fine", "very good to fine", "very good", "good to very good", "good", and only a few less than "good") along with more details about the condition described in words (but pretty much a general description of the defects, and we only describe specific defects if they are the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized images, or if the item is especially valuable). We felt this would help bidders identify items they want to bid on more easily. Of course, we still strongly recommend that you look at our super-sized image to see the extent of the defects that we describe and to examine the poster for minor defects that we did NOT describe.

U.S. Shipping Details

U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order plus $3, for the best packaging materials you have ever seen. You can choose either the U.S. Post Office or UPS (since you are paying it, you can choose the method you prefer). All U.S. orders will be sent fully insured.

NOTE: Our Pay and Hold Program (see below for how this works) allows you to have your purchases sent every TWELVE weeks, which means we will only send you packages four times a year. We urge that all of our customers who plan to buy from future auctions join the Pay and Hold Program, because it really saves you a massive amount on shipping!

Missouri, California, Washington, and Illinois customers: If your order is sent within these states, we MUST collect sales tax, and we will do so automatically (unless you have a Reseller Certificate from your state in which case you need to reply to this email with a copy of that Certificate, so you can be exempted from the sales tax).

Have you heard about our Pay and Hold Program?
This lets U.S. buyers pay for their purchases from 12 consecutive weeks (a total of 18 auctions and around 24,000+ items!), and we then send all your purchases at once saving you LOTS of money! Click HERE to learn more about becoming one of the hundreds of our U.S. buyers who are already part of this program.

We require "signature required" on all orders over $100, unless the customer accepts responsibility
Neither UPS nor USPS automatically require a signature to deliver packages, so in order for a signature to be required, you need to pay the extra $5.00 for UPS or $2.60 for USPS that they charge for "signature required", and please realize that they will then NOT leave the package at the door, and you may well have to go to the UPS or USPS facility yourself to pick it up if you aren't there to meet the delivery person. We add "signature required" to all orders over $100, because of the drastic rise in "porch thefts" (packages being stolen after they are left off). We WILL allow you to have your package sent without signature required if it is over $100, but only if YOU accept full responsibility if it is stolen after it is left off, and if you agree to not file for a refund from your credit card company or Paypal (because they would take the money from us). We can't accept the responsibility if your package is stolen, so we require full insurance and signature required, unless YOU want that responsibility and say so in writing.

You CAN usually combine shipment!

NOTE: These items need to be sent in oversized flat packages so...

*they can be combined with these auctions:

Thursday May 13th pressbooks, heralds, programs, glass slides & more
Sunday May 16th most of the bulk lots that ship in flat packages
Tuesday May 25th Argentinean, Italian, French, 3sh, 6sh, and similar
Thursday May 27th folded one-sheets and folded non-U.S.
Thursday June 10th single lobby cards and stills
Sunday June 13th most of the bulk lots that ship in flat packages

*they must be sent separately from these auctions for an additional shipping charge:

Tuesday May 11th rolled one-sheets, non-U.S, and special posters
Sunday May 16th the bulk lots that ship in tubes
Sunday May 30th inserts, 1/2-shs, small non-U.S
Tuesday June 8th rolled one-sheets, non-U.S, and special posters
Sunday June 13th the bulk lots that ship in tubes

Note that (if you join our Pay and Hold Program) we allow you to wait to have your purchases shipped until a total of twelve auctions have ended so that you can combine your current purchases with those of our following auctions (if possible; see Learn More About Combining), and that means there is a chance you could combine all those items, and still pay only a single shipping charge (assuming those items fit into the same type of package, but of course, there is a limit to how many items can fit in a single package or tube, and if you end up with several packages, you will need to pay that many shipping charges; Learn More About Combining). Since around half of our auctions have items that ship in tubes and the other half have items that ship in flat packages, and since few of those two types of items can be combined, most of our regular buyers end up with at least two packages after twelve weeks. We KNOW there are other sellers who charge a little less on shipping than we do (and of course, there are others who charge far more!), but none of the ones with lower rates offer the same generous combined shipping we do, and we know that our packaging is the best there is, and our orders virtually never arrive damaged (and on the very rare times that they do, all our U.S. packages are fully insured, and FULL INSURANCE IS INCLUDED IN THE U.S. SHIPPING CHARGE).

DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (plus $3 for packaging materials)!

Non-U.S. Shipping Details

Non-U.S. buyers must pay the actual cost of shipping their order (you can choose whatever method you prefer, but know that the U.S. Post Office has eliminated Surface Mail, so we can only send via Express or Airmail), plus $3, for both the best packaging materials you have ever seen and a separate printed invoice mailed to you. All non-U.S. buyers must tell us if they want the package sent insured or uninsured at the time they pay for their order.

Have you heard about our Pay and Hold Program?

Here is a chart containing estimated shipping charges for up to 3 items from this set of  auctions
NOTE:
These are ESTIMATES only, and your actual shipping may be more or less than these estimates, and these estimates are surely way too low for the "very oversized" items.
ALSO NOTE:
Insurance will increase the cost of shipping by approximately $1.60 for each $100 of insurance.

Type of Shipping Canada/Mexico Australian/Asia/Japan Everywhere Else (inc Europe)
Priority Mail Int'l - Uninsured $49.93 $58.10 $61.19
Priority Mail Express Int'l - Uninsured 65.27 80.90 74.49
First Class (under 4 lbs ONLY)* 46.46 51.21 50.03
*First Class has a weight limit of 4 lbs so that limits the number of posters that can ship via First Class in a flat package. The maximum quantity for first class is approximately three posters (3). Bear in mind that is at the maximum weight of 4 lbs which is approximately the estimates shown above.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please bear these approximate shipping cost in mind BEFORE you place a bid (if you live outside the U.S.). The vast majority of our customers want a very securely packed tube, and will pay the extra shipping cost involved (and of course, it goes to the Post Office or UPS, and not us!). Please do not ask us to pack less securely, as that would likely result in a damaged order.
Some sellers are sending by Ground UPS to Canada, but that incurs large "brokerage fees", so we do not recommend it. Note that there are also some sellers sending non-U.S. packages via a "Letter" rate, but of course this is not legal, and we can not do this. We have outlined the possibilities for sending non-U.S. packages above, so please read that carefully, BEFORE placing a bid!

Do you have a friend or relative who lives in the United States?
Some of our customers either visit the U.S. regularly, or have friends or relatives within the U.S., and often those customers have us send their orders to a U.S. address, and then they transport the posters from there. THIS CAN SAVE YOU A GREAT DEAL ON SHIPPING (but bear in mind that, depending on the state, we might have to then charge U.S. sales tax)! This is fine with us, but realize that you still need to let us know within one week of receipt if you want to return anything, so don't use this method unless you are certain you will want to keep your purchases.

DON'T BID ON OUR ITEMS UNLESS YOU WILL PAY THE ACTUAL COST OF SHIPPING (plus $3 for packaging materials)!
