DIAHANN CARROLL
Diahann Carroll (born Carol Diahann Johnson) is a singer and actress from the 1950s to the present. She got her big break in 1951 at the age of 16, when she appeared on Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts. She is probably best remembered for her role in TV's "Julia" in 1968, which was the first melodrama with a black African American in the solo lead role. Some of her movies include: The Split, Carmen Jones, Claudine (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Porgy and Bess. She passed away in 2019 at the age of 83
