RAYMOND BURR

Raymond Burr was an actor from the 1940s to the 1990s. He is best remembered for his long-running role as TV's "Perry Mason", but he had important roles in two very memorable film, Godzilla: King of the Monsters (the 1956 U.S. version) and Rear Window (in a memorable role as Thorwald, the man who may or may not have killed his wife and buried her in the courtyard). Because he lived at a time when revealing his sexuality would have ended his career, Burr kept his homosexuality secret from the general public throughout his life, but it was an open secret amongst his friends, and it was revealed after his passing in 1993 at the age of 76.
