Leo Gorcey was a leading juvenile actor from the 1930s to the 1960s. He started in the Broadway stage play version of "Dead End" as one of the street kids, and continued in the movie version. He was a member of the "Dead End Kids", and when Billy Halop unwisely left to pursue a solo career, he became the leader of the group, which later evolved into "The Bowery Boys". He continued to play a wacky juvenile well into his thirties, alongside perennial comic sidekick Huntz Hall! Grocey passed away in 1969 at the age of 51 from liver failure. Of course, his father was vaudeville comedian Bernard Gorcey, who Leo often tortured in the Bowery Boy movies!
