RICHIE HAVENS
Richie Havens was the black African American rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musician that opened Woodstock in 1969 with the improvised song "Freedom". In addition to Woodstock, he has appeared in a handful of other movies, including: Catch My Soul, Greased Lightning, The Boss' Son, and Hearts of Fire. Havens passed away in 2013 at the age of 72.
