HOWARD KOCH (writer)
Howard Koch was a writer from the 1940s to the 1990s. He wrote the script for one of the most memorable radio shows ever, The War of the Worlds, produced by Orson Welles in 1938, which led him to go to Hollywood and become a top screenwriter! He is best remembered for his screenplay of Casablanca (he won the Best Screenplay Academy Award), and some of his other movies include: Sergeant York (nominated for the Best Screenplay Academy Award), The Sea Hawk, and The Letter. Sadly, he was denounced as a Communist and blacklisted by the Hollywood film studio bosses in the 1950s, and he went to Europe, where he worked, and many years later, he was able to resume working in Hollywood with stars such as Steve McQueen, Susannah York, and Sandy Dennis. He passed away in 1995 at the age of 93
