ERLE STANLEY GARDNER
Erle Stanley Gardner was an author from the 1930s to the 1970s. A former lawyer, he is best known for the Perry Mason series of legal detective stories, which not only were sold by the millions, but were also adapted into numerous movies and TV shows over a period of decades. He also wrote numerous other novels and shorter pieces and also a series of nonfiction books. At the time of his death, he was the best-selling American author of the 20th century. He passed away in 1970 at the age of 80.
