ARCHIE SHEPP

Archie Shepp is an black African American jazz saxophonist, educator and playwright from the 1960s to the present. He has played a central part in the development of avant-garde jazz, and is featured in the 1981 documentary film Imagine the Sound, in which he discusses and performs his music and poetry. As of 2023, he is alive at the age of 85.
