DONALD CALTHROP
Donald Calthrop was an English stage and film actor from the 1910s to the 1940s. He started performing on stage in 1906, and he is best remembered today for having appeared in three of Alfred Hitchcock's early movies, including 1929's "Blackmail". His life was marred by a great tragedy. In 1930, he was performing on stage and he invited a chorus girl to his dressing room, even though he was married, and the room was warmed by a stove, and her costume caught fire and she burned to death! He soon got divorced and became an alcoholic, and he passed away in 1940 at the age of 52.
