THOMAS E. DEWEY
Thomas E. Dewey was a Republican lawyer, prosecutor, and politician from the 1930s to the 1950s. In 1944, he was the Republican Party's nominee for President, losing the 1944 election to President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the closest of Roosevelt's four presidential elections! Dewey was also governor of New York from 1943 to 1954. He passed away in 1971 at the age of 68.
