ANDY KAUFMAN
Andy Kaufman was an actor, writer, and stand-up comedian from 1971 to the 1980s. He first gained national fame in TV's "Taxi" as Latka Gravas, and his subsequent career was very bizarre, including a stint in professional wrestling (look it up!). His life was chronicled in Milos Forman's movie "Man on the Moon" starring Jim Carrey (in a remarkable performance). Sadly, Kaufman was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer. He tried treating it with "psychic surgery" to no avail, and died in 1984 at the at of 35. However, since Kaufman repeatedly joked about faking his own death, rumors persist to this day that he's still alive!
