MARY ROGERS

Mary Rogers was the daughter of Will Rogers, who attempted a Hollywood career in 1933. She didn't want to get favoritism through her famous father, so she changed her name to "Mary Howard" and didn't let anyone know who her famous father was until after she had a screen contract in 1933, but apparently she did not inherit father's acting skills, because she only appeared in a single movie, "My Weakness". Of course, her famous father would tragically die in a plane crash just two years later. Miss Howard would pass away in 1989. In 1936, another actress who really WAS named Mary Howard got a real Hollywood contract and appeared in a number of movies in the 1930s and 1940s under that name. But because of this earlier "Mary Howard" (Will Rogers' daughter), information about the two of them has been merged on many Internet sites, including the IMDb. THIS Mary Howard IS the daughter of Will Rogers, and is NOT the Mary Howard who acted in many 1930s and 1940s movies. Mary passed away in 1989 at the age of 75.
