ADOLF HITLER (personality)
Adolf Hitler was the infamous German politician who led the Nazi Party and was Chancellor of Germany from 1933 until his suicide in 1945. Born in Austria, Hitler served in the German Army during World War I (WWI), after studying fine art in Vienna, and later joined the German Workers' Party (before it was re-named the NSDAP). He was later arrested for high treason and was sentenced to five years' imprisonment, during which he worked on Mein Kampf. Hitler went on to rebuild the NSDAP, later getting appointed as Chancellor after losing to Paul von Hindenburg in the 1932 presidential election. In a series of political moves, Hitler became dictator by 1933, and immediately enacted policies that gave him dictatorial powers and increased Germany's military might. While Hitler encouraged the removal of Jewish citizens from Germany in letters as early as 1919, plans to eradicate the population of Jewish citizens from Germany did not come to fruition until 1938 (though the first concentration camps were erected in 1933). Hitler went on to build the Axis powers with Italy and Japan, declaring war against the United States of America in 1941 (four days after Pearl Harbor). However, due to over-confidence of his own military expertise, Hitler interfered with military plans, including the destruction of the 6th Army in Stalingrad after Hitler refused to allow the unit to withdraw. More blunders resulted in Germany getting invaded by the Russian Red Army, culminating in the invasion of Berlin by April 1945 and Hitler shooting himself in the head shortly after. Adolf Hitler is no doubt considered one of history's most evil men!
